Hi I'm Ash.
I'm a kiwi (a New Zealander).
My parents snuck me into the 80s so I had a blessed upbringing around transformers, teenage mutant ninja turtles, sega mega drive, cabbage patch kids, Britney and MJ. Furthermore I rode the tailcoats of fantastic msdos games, including Space Invaders.
Whilst not a childhood favourite, the term "space invaders" has been coined here in an architectural sense. Call me cliche, but truthfully all the good names have been taken up.
Two Masters later and 10,000 miles away from home, I now reside in a place (New York City) where architecture's presence is literally on crack; not forgetting its absence in society and smaller gestures that sometimes sit under appreciated in a capitalist world.
The world of facade consulting has given me the privilege to see architecture in all its stages. I've hung off the face of $1b real estate and seen a lifetime supply of pee filled Poland spring bottles.
With the enormous help of Lotti (my sister from another mother), We bring to you Space Invaders Anon; a curation of my thoughts, brain farts, conversations, experiences and perspectives. It hopes to bring architecture back down to earth, to everyday people, the poor buggers who have to use some poorly/brilliantly designed sh*t (by architects and designers) everyday.
